Knee injury is latest Ambrose woe
Former England wicketkeeper Tim Ambrose has joined Warwickshire's casualty list. Ambrose has been ruled out of the county's Clydesdale Bank 40 group match against Scotland at Titwood in Glasgow on August 1 with a knee injury.
Ambrose took a knock on the knee during last week's County Championship match against Nottinghamshire and complained of further discomfort after Monday's Friends Provident t20 quarter-final defeat by Hampshire.
Warwickshire are awaiting a specialist's report into Ambrose's injury but he will be replaced by Richard Johnson for the trip to Glasgow.
Captain Ian Westwood is expected to play against Scotland despite suffering from knee and shoulder problems but it has been confirmed that seamer Naqaash Tahir will miss the remainder of the season because of an ankle problem.
Naqaash was told that he would require an operation to repair the injury but hoped to put off surgery until the end of the season.
But he broke down again in the second team when he attempted a comeback two weeks ago and has now brought forward the operation.
There is better news of seamer Andy Miller who has been sidelined for a month by a stress fracture of the foot.
Miller is due to have his protective boot taken off next week and hopes to begin bowling immediately.
He has pencilled in the County Championship match against Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge, starting on August 16, as the date for a possible first team return.
