Essex appoint Silverwood as bowling coach
Essex have appointed Chris Silverwood as the club's bowling coach, replacing Graeme Welch who has returned to Warwickshire to take up a similar role there.
Speaking to the Essex club website, coach Paul Grayson welcomed the appointment of the former England fast bowler.
"Chris is a highly respected person having played plenty of first-class cricket plus, of course, representing England," he said.
"He is desperately keen to make an impact and is the perfect bowling coach for us as he ticks all of the boxes. We were obviously keen to replace Graeme (Welch) as quickly as possible.
"Chris will be joining us as bowling coach from March 1, when the players report back for full pre-season training, and he will also travel with us to Barbados where he will be able to work closely with the bowlers as we prepare for the start of the season."
Silverwood, who will be 35 next month, announced his retirement from playing at the end of last season.
He made his Test debut in 1996, and won six caps for England, and moved to Middlesex in 2006 after thirteen seasons with his native Yorkshire.
